Players of the Week
Men's Basketball Division I:
Cory Evans is the Division I men's basketball player of the week. Cory is a junior forward at Southern Virginia University. On the week, Evans helped his team to a 2-1 record against three NAIA opponents defeating both Knoxville College and Cincinnati Christian University. In the three game stretch , the junior averaged 19.3 points and seven rebounds. He also contributed ten assists and six steals on the week.
Men's Basketball Division II:
Joel Stryker is the Division II men's basketball player of the week. Stryker is a sophomore guard at Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture. He helped his team to a 1-1 record on the week, defeating Calvary Bible. In the two games, Stryker averaged 26.5 points, ten rebounds, and three assists.
Women's Basketball:
Sharon Houston is the women's basketball co-player of the week. Houston is a sophomore forward at Indiana University Northwest. In three games, the sophomore averaged 27 points, 16.6 rebounds, 5.3 blocks, and 1.3 steals. Her week was highlighted by a triple double against Goshen College where she had 21 points, 16 rebounds, and 12 blocks.
Women's Basketball:
Liz Stockwell is the women's basketball co-player of the week. Stockwell is a sophomore at Rochester College. She has been a key contributor to Rochester's best start in recent years (6-1), helping them secure the #3 ranking in this weeks coaches poll. She helped lead her team to their first ever wins over NAIA 2 schools U of M Dearborn and OCAA Wright State Lakes while also defeating NCAA DIII Alma College. On the week, she averaged 15 points, 12 rebounds, and 2 blocks per game.
Honorable Mention:
Men's Basketball Division I:
Jesse Howell is the Division I men's basketball honorable mention player of the week. Howell is a senior guard at Indiana University Northwest. While leading his team to a victory over Judson College, Jesse broke the NAIA Div. 2 record for free throws making 31 out of 36 attempts on the week.
Men's Basketball Division II:
Chris Dickision is the Division II men's basketball honorable mention player of the week. Dickision, from Penn State DuBois averaged 24 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 2 assists in three games last week.
Women's Basketball:
Tamara Davis is the women's basketball honorable mention player of the week. Davis is a sophomore guard at The Apprentice School. In her first two games back since knee surgery, she averaged 16 points and 6.5 rebounds while collecting Tournament MVP honors at the Great Ships Classic in Newport News, VA.
