Players of the Week
Men's Basketball Division I:
Rickey Doran is the Division I Men's Basketball Co-Player of the Week. Rickey is a sophomore center at Rochester College. Against NAIA 2 opponents Michigan-Dearborn and Madonna University, Doran averaged 13.5 points, 11 rebounds, and 3.5 blocks. Doran was named the Most Outstanding Player of the 2009 State Farm Classic for his efforts.
Marcus Hopkins is the Division I Men's Basketball Co-Player of the Week. Hopkins is a sophomore guard at Marygrove College. At the NCAA DIII Hope College Sentinel Tournament, Hopkins averaged 26 points, and 5.5 assists against NAIA powers Ohio Dominican and Purdue-North Central. He led his team to a third place finish capping off the weekend with a career-high 35 points.
Men's Basketball Division II:
Michael Burchill is the Division II Men's Basketball Player of the Week. Burchill is a junior guard at the Southern Maine Community. In conference victories over the University of Maine Augusta College and Hesser College, Burchill averaged 25.5 points, going 15 of 22 from behind the arc.
Women's Basketball:
Sharon Houston is the Women's Basketball Co-Player of the Week. Houston is a sophomore forward at Indiana University Northwest. On the week, Houston averaged 27 points, 17 rebounds, and four blocks against NAIA opponents Robert Morris University and Mount Mary College.
Hannah Brim is the Women's Basketball Co-Player of the Week. Hannah is a freshman guard at Rhema Bible College. Brim had a big time performance against NAIA opponent Bacone College, posting 32 points and 11 rebounds. This was her second 32 point game of the season.
Honorable Mention
Men's Basketball Division II:
Besfort Syla is the Division II Men's Basketball Honorable Mention Player of the Week. Syla is a freshman guard at NHTI-Concord's. Syla averaged 12 points, three rebounds, and Community College five assists in three games last week.
Women's Basketball:
Alisa Sweet is the Women's Basketball Honorable Mention Player of the Week. Sweet is a freshman forward at Southern Maine Community College. In two conference wins against the University of Maine College. Augusta and Hesser College, Alisa averaged 23 points and 10.5 rebounds.
