Rochester Wins School's First USCAA Softball National Championship

Akron, OH - Rochester College has won their first USCAA Softball Championship, as they defeated #2 St. Mary of the Woods 8-6, in Game 2 of the National Championship Series.   In the top of the seventh the Lady Warriors trailed 6-4, Tournament MVP Briana Seratto's RBI double cut the deficit to 6-5. With zero outs and runners at second and third, Meliisa Roy cleared the bases with her fourth double of the tournament to give Rochester a 7-6 lead.  Courtney Dunlap added an insurance run with her RBI single, to extend the lead to 8-6.  In the bottom of the seventh the Pomeroys put runners on at second and third with one out, but could not advance the runners any closer as pitcher Paige Henley came in for Rochester and sealed the victory and the championship for the Lady Warriors.

In Game 1 of the Championship Series, Rochester jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the second inning, and  with the aid of a combined shutout by pitchers Mellissa Lehman and Katy Peacock, took game one of the National Championship Series.  Lehman pitched four and 2/3 innings allowing six hits and striking out five.  Peacock who inherited runners on first and second, came in the fourth inning and went two and 1/3 innings without surrendering a hit, to earn the save.
