Registration for the 2017 USCAA National Convention is now open. The Convention will be held at the brand new Hilton The Main Hotel in downtown Norfolk, Virginia from June 11-14, 2017.
Please note that there are several changes to previous formats of the schedule. Important changes to note include registration moving to Sunday afternoon, the opening session beginning first thing on Monday morning, and the first Annual Awards Dinner on Sunday evening to recognize Athletic Director of the Year, Director’s Cup winners, and the inaugural class of the USCAA Hall of Fame.
The USCAA National Convention is an annual meeting of USCAA Athletic Directors, administrators, and coaches. The event includes Town Hall sessions on championships, ratings/selections and bylaws, business meetings, as well as professional development and social opportunities. Members are highly encouraged to send at least one representative.
Information on how to book your trip to Norfolk, Virginia is available on the Convention website. Attendees can register for the event and book rooms on the website. Additional features include links to the legislation and town hall proposal forms (not valid until after March 31st), Board of Director nominations forms (not valid until after March 31st) the USCAA’s scheduling message board, Director’s Cup standings, and more.
The cost of Convention registration is $225. This includes registration, complimentary wi-fi throughout the conference, breakfast and luncheons throughout, and tickets to USCAA socials. Please note that the Hall of Fame Dinner will be an added cost. As an incentive to register early, all individuals who register prior to March 1st will be entered to win one of three prizes. First place will receive a new Apple Ipad. Second and third place will receive complimentary tickets to the USCAA Hall of Fame Dinner.
Guests (spouses and children) are invited and can purchase meal tickets for an additional cost at uscaa.ticketleap.com. A meal ticket gives guests access to lunch on Monday and Tuesday, as well as the welcome social at the Hilton Main on Monday night. Rooms at the Hilton start at $139 a night for a single or double occupancy. Rooms must be booked by May 12th to get the USCAA’s group rate.
This year’s convention features several unique professional develop topics important to sports administrators. Additionally, in collaboration with the Norfolk CVB, we will host two group social events, which are outstanding networking opportunities. On Monday night there will be a welcome reception at the Hilton Main, featuring dinner, music, and games among other activities. Tuesday night’s social will highlight provide options for either minor league baseball, TopGolf, or sightseeing.
Additionally, the USCAA is opening calls for legislation proposals and Town Hall discussion on Friday, March 31st. Those forms are also located on the convention website. All proposals should be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org or faxed to 757.706.3758. If faxing forms, the USCAA will send an email receipt. If you do not receive a receipt, your forms were not received. A detailed email on proposals will be distributed in late March.
