Players of the Week - 10/25/11


Men’s Soccer

Player of the Week

Aaron Hutchins, a midfielder from University of Maine-Presque Isle has won the Men’s Soccer Player of the Week award.  Aaron scored two goals and had two assists in UMPI’s win over Fisher College last Saturday. Huchins now has 5 goals and 3 assists on the season.  

Goalkeeper of the Week

Homero Flores, a senior from SUNY-Canton is the Goalkeeper of the Week. Homero made several game-saving saves in a 0-0 tie against top-ranked Maine-Fort Kent on Sunday. Flores contributed 11 saves in his final home game including stopping a penalty kick early in the second half and a diving save with only two minutes left in overtime.

Women’s Soccer

Player of the Week

Bridget Cuddihy, a freshman at SUNY-ESF is the Women’s Soccer Player of the Week. Bridget had her 3rd hat trick of the season this week against SUNY-Delhi in a 5-0 win. Overall for the season Cuddihy has 15 goals for the Mighty Oaks.

Goalkeeper of the Week

Bridgid Hasson, a sophomore from University of Dallas is the Women’s Soccer Goalkeeper of the week. Hasson notched two shutouts on the week (against Austin College and University of Houston-Victoria) and contributed in another (Dallas Christian College). Hasson now has seven shutouts on the season, a .69 goals against average in 1557 minutes played, and has made 68 saves.


Player of the Week

Heather Leonard, a freshman middle hitter at University of Maine-Machias is the Volleyball Player of the Week. In a win over UMPI Heather had 7 kills, 1 service ace, 2 digs, and 1 block. In a match against UMFK Heather had 9 kills, 1 service ace, 6 digs, 4 blocks, and 1 assist. Her total for the week was 16 kills, 2 aces, 8 digs, 5 blocks, and 1 assist.

Setter of the Week

Mackenzie Mynter, a junior setter at SUNY Canton is the Volleyball Setter of the Week. Mackenzie led the Roos to three straight wins averaging 7.3 assists and 2.1 kills per set. She had a double-double in the first matchup of the week against Morrisville with 20 assists and 17 digs.

Men’s Cross Country

Runner of the Week

Kyle Dash, a junior Team Captain at Paul Smith’s College is the Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week. Kyle placed first out of 54 runners in the Yankee Small Conference Championships at NHTI. Kyle ran the 8k course in a time of 26:22 leading his school to a win. Dash was also named to the Yankee All Conference Team.

Women’s Cross Country

Runner of the Week

Patty Schaefer, from Robert Morris University-Springfield, is the Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week. Patty ran in the Robert Morris Cross Country meet and finished second overall with a time of 22:08.
