Bob Backus Named Athletic Director of the Year

NEWPORT NEWS, VIRGINIA – SUNY Delhi Athletic Director, Bob Backus, has been named the 2015-2016 Garth Pleasant Honorary Athletic Director of the Year Award at the USCAA National Convention in Richmond, Virginia. Backus’ efforts in the sports of Track & Field, Swimming & Diving, service on USCAA committees, and for excellence and guidance in leading the SUNY-Delhi athletic department were cited in review of his accomplishments during the year.

Backus received the annual honor at the Convention’s Opening Session on Monday at the Richmond Marriott. “The enthusiasm and vigor Bob Backus has shown in his time with the USCAA has been refreshing. We’re grateful for his initiative in expanding USCAA tournament offerings to include Track & Field and Swimming & Diving during the 2015-16 season. Bob has already become a valued member of our Championships subcommittee and we look forward to working with him to continue growing the scope and quality of USCAA postseason offerings.” stated USCAA Chief Operating Officer Michael Goodman.
