RMU pitcher Sara Gibson delivered a no hitter through five innings for the Eagles, aided by fantastic team defense and seven strikeouts.
Allie Neff helped her at the plate, going 2-3 with an RBI. Brittany Oakes added a double and an RBI.

In a game that was delayed due to rain, St. Joseph's and Southern State played the final inning Sunday Afternoon. After trailing all day saturday, Lady Bears sophomore catcher Caitlyn Kakavas delivered a two-out single in bottom of the seventh inning that plated two runs leading the Lady Bears to a comeback 4-3 victory.
Southern State ws led by center fielder Ryann Morse, who was 3-4 with a double and a run.

Briarcliffe College recovered against Penn State Hazelton, riding a strong pitching performance by Jillian McGovern to a 4-2 victory. Over seven innings, McGovern allowed one earned run and struck out three.
McGovern was also key at the plate, going 2-2 with an RBI.
Jenn Edsall and Heather Griffiths led Penn State Hazleton with two hits a piece.

RMU Springfield scored five runs in first inning, pulling away from Briarcliffe College to advance to the tournament semifinal round. Third baseman Shannon Settles was key for RMU, going 4-4 with an RBI and three runs scored. Ashley Matheson was 3-4 with two RBI's, and Brittany Oakes added a two run homerun.
For Briarcliffe, Alicia Sherron was 1-3 with a triple, RBI and a run scored.

In Sunday’s opening game, conference foes Penn State Hazleton and Penn State Beaver faced off and required extra innings to decide the contest. Penn State Beaver’s seventh inning rally tied the game, before conference rival Penn State Hazleton’s Theresa Charnetski doubled in the game winning run in the top of the eighth.
Hazleton’s Katie Chearick was 3-4 with a run scored. Jenn Edsall received the win, pitching eight innings and allowing only one earned run with four strikeouts.
Penn State Beaver’s Amanda Moore was 2-3 with a walk and a run scored.

In second round play, Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College scored seven runs in the first two innings on the way to a 10-2 victory over Southern Virginia University.
Saint Mary-of-the-Woods Kelsey Roselli was 2-3 with an RBI, and Aubrey Stitch added three hits including a double. Sara Goelz contributed 2 RBI’s and was strong on the mound, pitching five innings and allowing only four hits. Southern Virginia was led by Abbie Fisher’s RBI Double.
#4 Briarcliffe College (13) vs. #5 Penn State Hazelton (5)

Briarcliffe College scored five first inning runs and ran away from Penn State Hazelton for a 13-5 win in six innings.
During their first inning run Briarcliffe scored five runs on five hits, highlighted by Jillian McGovern’s RBI single and Victoria Boschert’s two RBI triple. The Seahawks continued the scoring with four second inning runs including a Shannon Dougherty RBI single.
Kayleigh Krockenberg contributed two hits, including a homerun, and two runs scored.
Briarcliffe College will advance to play Robert Morris Springfield at 8 p.m. on the secondary field. Penn State Hazelton will play Penn State Beaver at 8 p.m. at Firestone Stadium.

Top seeded Robert Morris University Springfield was tested early by Penn State Beaver, before pulling away for a 4-2 victory.
Lindsey Scialdone scored on a play at the plate during a rundown, and Katie Landis added an RBI single during the top of the first to put Penn State Beaver up 2-0 early. Megan Green of Robert Morris homered in the bottom of the second to put the Eagles on the board.
In the bottom of the fourth, Robert Morris took the lead aided by a Brittany Oakes double and two throwing errors. Allie Neff received the win, allowing one earned run in six innings and striking out four.
Robert Morris Springfield will play at 8 p.m. tonight against the winner of Penn State Hazelton and Briarcliffe College. Penn State Beaver will face the loser of this contest at 8 p.m. on the secondary field.
# 3 Southern Virginia University (2) vs. #6 St. Joseph’s College of Brooklyn (1)
12:30 p.m. – Firestone Stadium – Saturday May 8, 2010
Southern Virginia snuck by St. Joseph’s College in extra innings, defeating the Lady Bears 2-1 to advance to play Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College. SVU pitcher Kyla Christmas and St. Joseph’s pitcher Alyson Chiaramonte provided an exciting pitchers’ duel through seven innings as they headed into extras tied 1-1.
In the top of the second, Chiarmonte scored on a wild pitch to start of the scoring, before SVU tied the game on an RBI single from Abbie Fisher.
In the bottom of the 9th inning, a dropped ball by Lady Bears first baseman with two outs allowed SVU’s Abbi Baxter to score the winning run from first base.
Both pitchers impressed, as Chiarmonte struck out 11 and only allowed six hits over nine innings. Christmas struck out 11, with no earned runs and only allowed three hits.
St. Joseph’s College will play Southern State at 6 p.m., and Southern Virginia University will play Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College at 6 p.m.

Junior Pitcher SMWC Aubrey Stich’s three run double in the bottom of the second inning started off a ten run inning for Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College, as they defeated Southern State 13-3 in the opening game of the USCAA Softball National Tournament. The inning also included a solo home run by SMWC Libby Wright.
SMWC’s Stich pitched three innings and received the win, allowing four hits and two earned runs with a strikeout.
SMWC will advance to play at 6.p.m. at Firestone Stadium against the winner of Southern Virginia University and St. Joseph’s College (NY).
Southern State will advance to play the loser of Southern Virginia University and St. Joseph’s College tonight at 8 p.m.
