Players of the Week - 11-22-11
The USCAA is proud to announce the Player's of the Week for Men's Basketball, Women's Basketball, and Wrestling.
Men’s Basketball DI
Player of the Week
Aaron Hutchins, a sophomore guard from University of Maine-Presque Isle is the Division I Men’s Basketball Player of the Week. Aaron scored in double figures all four games this week totaling 66 points including a 27 point standout performance against Newbury College. Hutchins also shot 83 percent from the free throw line as well as averaged 1.8 steals per game on the week.
Men’s Basketball DII
Player of the Week
Jose Stable, a sophomore forward from Berkeley College (NY) is the Division II Men’s Basketball Player of the Week. Jose had three outstanding games racking up a total of 67 points and 24 rebounds respectively. Jose shot 64% from the field and a perfect 16-16 from the free throw line. He was selected for the All-Tournament team at the New England College Alumni Tournament.
Women’s Basketball
Co-Player of the Week
Sandy Jenkins, a senior forward from Ave Maria University is the Women’s Basketball Co-Player of the Week. Sandy averaged a double-double on the week racking up 56 points and 32 rebounds during her three contests. Jenkins also averaged two steals and two blocks helping the Gyrenes to a 2-1 record on the week.
Co-Player of the Week
Brittney Shaner, a junior guard from Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College is the Women’s Basketball Co-Player of the Week. Brittany is now tied for second for the single game scoring record at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods due to her 40 point performance against Brescia University. Shaner went a remarkable 8 for 10 from the 3 point line to against Indiana Tech as well. She totaled 81 points, 19 rebounds, and 8 steals for the week.
Wrestling
Jake Gregg, a sophomore for Lindenwood University-Belleville is the Wrestler of the Week. Jake finished in the top 8 at the Lindenwood St. Charles Open going 4-2 on the week. Gregg highlighted the week defeating the NCWA #3 ranked wrestler in his weight class.
