Players of the Week 2-14-12
The USCAA has announced the players of the week for Wrestling, Men's Division I, Men's Division II, and Women's Basketball.
Men’s Basketball DI
Player of the Week
Christopher Calvan, a freshman combo guard-forward from Virginia-Lynchburg, is the Division I Men’s Basketball Player of the Week. Calvan scored a season high 29 points in an overtime win against University of Maine Fort Kent. Calvan also shot 69% from the field and 100% from behind the arc in that game as he helped the dragons to a 4-0 record on the week.
Men’s Basketball DII
Player of the Week
Kevin Carr, a senior guard from Vermont Tech, is the Division II Men’s Basketball Player of the Week. On the week Carr averaged 26 points, 2.3 steals, and 5 rebounds per game. Carr highlighted the week with a huge 28 point performance against #1 USCAA Eastern Maine Community College. In that game Carr shot 59 percent from the field and 60 percent from the three point line.
Women’s Basketball
Player of the Week
Kelly Festa, a sophomore center from College of St. Joseph (VT) is the Women’s Basketball Player of the Week. Festa highlighted the week with 25 points, 24 rebounds, and 6 blocks against Vermont Tech. Festa also recorded 3 double-doubles on the week while averaging 3.3 blocks per game.
Wrestling
Wrestler of the Week
Marcus Chevres, a senior from the Apprentice School is the Wrestler of the Week. Chevres went 4-0 on the weekend and won all three matches in the USCAA Invitational to capture the 133 pound weight class. His win in the finals enabled him to break the school career victories record with 125. Marcus is 21-3 on the year.
