#7 Robert Morris College Springfield Runs Away With 80-56 Win Over Lyndon State

Broken Arrow, OK – # 7 Robert Morris College Springfield, led by first year coach David Heeb, never dropped gears on Wednesday afternoon at the Ninowski Center, running away to a 80-56 win against #10 Lyndon State College.

The game remained tight throughout the first half, with Robert Morris taking a ten point lead into halftime. However, a low shooting percentage and turnovers proved to be too costly for Lyndon State in the second half. Robert Morris outscored Lyndon 40-26 in the second, shooting 48.4% from the field and scoring 26 points off of turnovers (for the game). Lyndon State shot only 28.1% in the second half.

Leading the way for Robert Morris College Springfield was Latoya Gipson, who broke away for 19 points and 6 rebounds. KeAmber Vaughn also added a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Jackie Wetzel was the leading scorer for Lyndon State, posting 14 points. Honorable Mention All-American, Whitney Hoyt, scored 7 and brought down 9 boards.

Lyndon State will now take on Southern Maine Community College Thursday at 6pm in the consolation round. #7 Robert Morris College Springfield will take on #2 ranked Philander Smith College in the quarter finals at noon.
