Perry Shockley graduated from Henderson State University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas, with a bachelor’s degree in Physical Education and was a member of the Gamma Beta Phi Honor Society.
Perry also earned an associate’s degree in General Education at Garland Community College in Hot Springs, Arkansas. He graduated from RHEMA Bible Training Center in 1997 with an emphasis in missions. He has traveled extensively on mission trips to Russia, Zambia, Mozambique, Guatemala, and Peru.
In his role as Athletic Director at RHEMA Bible Training Center, Shockley has worked to make Kenneth W. Hagin’s vision for an athletic program come to pass. Since Shockley became Athletic Director, RHEMA Athletics has fielded teams in intercollegiate basketball, golf, track, soccer, volleyball, and cross-country. The biggest change Shockley instituted was RHEMA’s acceptance into the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) in August of 2001. Acceptance into the USCAA gave RHEMA Athletics the opportunity for national exposure and to qualify for national tournaments in all sports.
Coach Perry Shockley is in his 11th year as the men’s head coach and athletic director at RHEMA. Shockley has helped lead a very successful basketball program that has put RHEMA on the map for collegiate sports. As head coach, he has led RHEMA to two National Bible College Athletic Association (NBCAA) national titles in 2001 and 2003, one Association of Christian College Athletics (ACCA) national title in 2005, and two United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) national titles in 2006 and 2007. Shockley’s RHEMA career began in 1998 as the head women’s coach when he pioneered the first women’s basketball team. Under Shockley’s four years of leadership, the women won three consecutive NBCAA national championships-in 1999, 2000, and 2001.
Before joining the RHEMA staff, Shockley served for three years as boy’s head basketball coach at Pulaski Academy in Little Rock, Arkansas. Shockley also served three years as assistant men’s basketball coach for the University of Arkansas at Little Rock (UALR). The UALR Trojans qualified for the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Tournament two of those years, where in 1990 they played Louisville and in 1991, UNLV.
He has been involved in the Fellowship of Christian athletes (FCA) since 1988. He served as Regional FCA Basketball Camp Director for two years and a huddle leader for seven years, and has worked at Christian outreach camps and with the Special Olympics.
Shockley is serving his tenth year as a member of the USCAA board, in which he serves as vice president of championships. Coach Shockley and his wife, Carri, a 2004 RBTC graduate from the School of Worship, live in Coweta. They have on daughter, Emma Nicole.
