A native of Smithfield, VA, he joined the USCAA management staff in 2005.  Simms is a graduate of Old Dominion University, where he obtained a bachelor’s in Organizational Psychology, and a minor in Communications. While at ODU, Simms participated in baseball during the Fall season of 2003. Shortly after, he hung up his cleats to focus on academics. He continued his passion and interest for baseball by serving as Assistant Baseball Coach at James River Christian and Smithfield High School during his time in college.

During his career, Simms has served two years as Administrator of Student Services and one year as Assistant Athletic Director at member institution The Apprentice School. 

Under several titles with the USCAA, beginning as Assistant to the Commissioner and transitioning to Associate Director, Simms has led the operations of the USCAA, bolstering marketing efforts that have led to a near 100% membership growth since 2005.  Simms has been instrumental in sponsorship efforts, leading to contracts with Anaconda Sports, Motel 6, YouCastr, Diamond Baseballs, and most recently Gametape Exchange.  He has also worked directly in efforts to improve the image of the USCAA including three website re-designs, the reorganization of the national office, and improved Championship events. 

Matt is currently attending the College of William & Mary part-time toward an MBA degree.
