The native of Royal Oak, MI, began his sports career in a non-traditional way, starting off as the team manager for his CYO basketball team. He then went on to serve in the same capacity for both his high school and college teams.
Anstett is a 1996 graduate of the University of Michigan-Dearborn (UM-D). At UM-D, he compiled game-time statistics for the men’s basketball team and reported results to the media and regional/national body. Upon graduation with a Computer Science degree, he remained at UM-D for six more years, serving as the home game statistician for both men’s and women’s basketball.
In the fall of 2001, Anstett contacted then Commissioner Dave Schmidt about helping out with volleyball and soccer statistics during the inaugural fall season of the USCAA. The rest, as they say, is history as he has remained the national statistician for all of the USCAA’s championship sports ever since.
In addition to handling the national statistics, he also served as the statistician at the 2001-2002 Division 1 Men’s Basketball Tournament held at St. Mary’s College (MI) and has also done individual games at various USCAA tournaments, including the 2003 and 2004 basketball tournaments in Maine and the 2006-2008 soccer tournaments in Michigan.
In addition to his day job as an assistant in a CPA’s office, he is also the sole owner of timStats, LLC, a company that provides game statistics and other services to local teams on various levels.
