Recaps of matches in the 2006
USCAA National Soccer Championships follow. In addition, the
All-Tournament teams were selected and those honorees are also
listed below.
Men
3rd Place: Presentation College 4,
Unity College 0
Preston Buecher, Nick Becker, Ryan Brushwood, and Jordan
Heupel each scored goals to lead the Presentation Saints to
the 3rd place win over the Unity College Rams. Tyler Vance
added two assists.
Championship: Rochester College 0,
Robert Morris-Lake County 0 [2OT], Rochester wins on penalty
kicks, 4-2
Both teams played hard and physical en route to a 0-0 draw
after 90 minutes of play and two 10-minute overtimes. The
Warriors of Rochester scored on all four of its penalty kicks
to earn the USCAA Championship. Nick Swanteks penalty
kick goal was the clincher and Calvin Marshall added one more
to seal the game. Scottie Malagon and José Gavilanes
scored the penalty kick goals for the Lake County Eagles.
WOMEN
5th Place: Warren Wilson College (NC)
3, Robert Morris-Lake County (IL) 1
Sarah Gaskin scored two goals and Amy Witt added 1 goal to
lead the Warren Wilson Owls to the win in the 5th place
contest. The Lake County Eagles got their lone goal from Gema
Mariscal on an assist from Samantha Reed.
3rd Place: Robert Morris-Springfield
(IL), New Hampshire Tech. 0 [OT]
The Eagles from Robert Morris-Springfield won the Womens
3rd place game in overtime. Katie Granquist had 15 saves for

Rochester College 4, New Hampshire
Technical Institute 2

Department) Nichole Snide and Kelly Reid scored NHTIs
goals as host Rochester defeated the Capitals to advance to
the championship game.
Southern Virginia 2, Robert
Morris-Springfield (IL) 0
The Southern Virginia Knights advance to face Rochester
College in the championship. The Robert Morris-Springfield
Eagles will play the NHTI Capitals for third place.

Rochester College 1
Rochester Colleges Krystn Freeman scored 1:41 into the
game on a pass from Shantelle Jones-Williams to give the Lady
Warriors the early lead. The Southern Virginia Knights
answered later when Leslie Clarke fed Susie Jex for a goal at
14:32. Five minutes later at 19:36, Leslie Clarke scored on a
pass from Andrea Manwill. Rochester had a chance to tie late
in the game, but their goal was waved off due to an offside
player. Tournament MVP Mary Ertel had 6 saves for Southern
Virginia in goal as the Knights won the 2006 National
Championship.
