USCAA Players of the Week
Newport News, VA. - The USCAA wants to congratulate and celebrate its student athletes' accomplishments. We are proud to announce the following Players of the Week for the week of August 25-31.
Women's Volleyball
- - Player of the Week- Kelley Koons, University of Cincinnati-Clermont, MH, Jr., Miamisburg, OH. - Koons propelled the Lady Cougars past four USCAA schools, as she contributed 34 kills, 17 service aces, 14 digs and 16 blocks. UC-Clermont also captured the PSU - New Kensington Invitational with wins over OSU - Marion, PSU - Beaver and PSU - New Kensington.
- - Setter of the Week-Alison Hamilton, Southern Virginia University, S, Sr., Purcellville, VA. - Hamilton led SVU to a 3-1 record this week. The Knights' setter averaged 10.4 assists, 1.27 kills and .73 aces per game. In her best game of the week against Emory and Henry, Hamilton posted 49 assists, four aces, three digs and three blocks.
Men's Soccer
- - Player of the Week- Max Bessor, Warren Wilson
College, MF, Jr., Richmond VA. - Bressor netted two goals
in a 3-0 victory over Division II Chowan University. The Owls'
junior sparked the team by scoring their first two goals of the
contest. Bressor found the goal on two of his four attempts. Warren
Wilson is now 1-0 on the season.
Women's Soccer
Goal Keeper of the Week- Bonnie Smith, NHTI, G, Fr., Pembroke, NH. - Smith recorded 43 saves on 47 shots in two games this week. The Lynx freshman recorded 29 saves against Dupage and allowed only one goal to defending YSCC champions Vermont Technical College.
