USCAA Player of the Week April 20th-26th

Baseball
Player of the Week- Mike Newhouse -PSU-Fayette, INF, Fr., Uniontown, PA- Newhouse hit .545 (6-for-11) this week. The Roaring Lions freshman belted four doubles and two singles for a .909 slugging percentage. Newhouse knocked in two runs and scored once.
Pitcher of the Week- Greg Frederick- PSU-Beaver, P, Jr., Swickely, PA- Frederick led his squad to two victories over PSUAC opponents, PSU-Greater Allegheny and PSU-Abington. The junior allowed one hit and recorded 16 strikeouts in a complete-game victory over PSU-Greater Allegheny. He followed that performance with a complete-game victory over PSU-Abington.
Softball
Co-Player of the Week- Jackie Skaggs- Spalding, INF, Jr., Louisville, KY- Skaggs went 11-for-20 (.550) at the plate this week. The Lady Eagles junior had seven RBI, three runs scored and a double. Her week was highlighted by a 5-for-5 performance in the first game of a two game set with Franklin College.
Co-Player of the Week- Emily Palmieri- St. Joseph's, 1B, Fr., Staten Island, NY- Palmieri led the Lady Bears to a 3-1 record this week. She posted a .636 batting average (7-for-11) and a 1.091 slugging percentage. The freshman had two triples, one double, six RBI and two runs scored.
Pitcher of the Week- Melissa Swoager- PSU-Beaver, P, Sr., Hookstown, PA- Swoager allowed one run in two games, as she led the Lady Lions to victories over PSU-Abington and PSU Greater-Allegheny. Swoager tossed a perfect-game (5 innings) against PSU-Abington. In the outing she recorded seven strikeouts. In the Lady Lions win over PSU-Greater Allegheny she allowed one run as PSU-Beaver took an 8-1 decision.
