USCAA Player of the Week April 27th-May 3rd

Newport News, VA- The USCAA would like to congratulate this week's selections for Player of the Week. These players were selected for their on field performance through the week of April 27th -May 3rd.
Baseball
Player of the Week- Alex Smith- Central Maine, 3B, So., Poland, ME- Smith had a tremendous week at the plate. The Mustang's sophomore crossed the plate eight times and knocked in 10 runs. Smith had three doubles, two triples, two stolen bases and two homeruns while going 12-for-15 (.800).
Pitcher of the Week- Robert Butts- Columbia Union, P, Jr., Bayamon, PR- Butts tossed seven shutout innings, in a 5-0 victory over Lake Erie College. The Pioneers' junior allowed three hits and one walk, while striking out eight.
Softball
Player of the Week- Caitlyn Kakavas- St. Joseph's, C/3B, Fr., Queens, NY- Kakavas hit .375 (6-for-16) this week, while leading the Lady Bears to a 6-0 record. The freshman posted a homerun, triple, double, six RBI and six runs scored. Her week was highlighted by a game winning RBI in both games of a two game set with USCAA opponent Briarcliffe.
Pitcher of the Week- Lisa Scheer-St. Joseph's, P, Fr., Queens, NY- Scheer captured three wins this week, as she led her squad to a Hudson Valley Women's Athletic Conference Championship. The Lady Bears ace struck out 25 batters while compiling a 1.22 ERA. Scheer's week was capped off by a nine inning shutout in the conference championship game.
