BROKEN ARROW, OKLA. -- Lyndon State College scored the first 15 points of the game and held a 27-point lead in the second half before UC Clermont stormed back with a chance to tie, but the Lady Hornets held on for a 79-74 victory in the consolation bracket on Friday night.
Whitney Hoyt and Jackie Wetzel scored 18 points apiece for Lyndon State while Jennifer White added 13 and a game-high 12 rebounds. Rachel Brewer scored 18 for UC Clermont, while Allison David added 12 and Darlene Carroll chipped in 11.
The Lady Hornets hit 50% from the floor (28-of-56) and 54.5% from 3-point range (6-of-11), while the Lady Cougars were 21-of-57 from the floor (36.8%) and 9-of-26 from 3-point range (34.6%). Both teams were strong from the foul line as Lyndon State hit 17-of-21 from the stripe (81%) and UC Clermont was 23-of-30 (76.7%).
