On January 2nd, 2015, Dave Baker was named Director of Athletics at Central Penn College to coincide with his duties as Dean of Students. Prior to taking over the Director of Athletics position, he served as the head men’s basketball Coach for 6 years. Baker led his team to 5 consecutive USCAA National Tournament appearances and was named USCAA DII Coach of the Year in 2016. Prior to Central Penn, Baker was the Head Coach at Harrisburg Area Community College and led the Hawks too EPCC and PCAA championships where he was also named Coach of the Year in 2006. Baker has also enjoyed stints as an assistant coach at Clarion University and St. Bonaventure.
Since Baker took over as AD, the men’s basketball team returned to the USCAA DII tournament and the men’s baseball team made its first appearance in the Small School College World Series. The athletic department continues to grow under Baker’s leadership with the addition of Cross Country and in 2018, Track and Field for men and women.
Baker transitioned into the Dean of Student Services position at Central Penn after working for Cornell Abraxas, a leading provider for rehabilitative and educational services in the Juvenile Justice field. As the Director of Education, Baker was responsible for the development, implementation, and licensing of schools in a number of states.
Baker has a Bachelor of Science degree in PE/Health from St. Bonaventure University, an M.Ed in Education Administration from Shippensburg University, and is completing his Ed.D from Arizona State University in Educational Leadership.
Baker lives in Etters, PA with his wife Beth, daughter Morgan, and son’s Evan and Dominic.
