2007 USCAA Softball National Championship Tournament Update

The following are capsule summaries of games played on Friday (Day One).

Game 1: Saint Mary of the Woods 11, Penn State-Beaver 1.
Ashley Loomis of Saint Mary of the Woods was the winning pitcher throwing five innings, allowing only one run, four hits, and striking out nine PSU batters. She was also 2-4 from the plate with 3 RBI’s.

Game 2: Briarcliffe 8, Penn State-Beaver 7.
Laura McTaggart and Michelle Bauerschmidt were 2-for-3 each with home runs and drove in three runs apiece as the Seahawks edged Penn-State-Beaver. McTaggart also added a double and scored three runs. Penn State-Beaver was paced by Ashley Peroli with a 2-for-4 performance scoring two runs.

Game 3: Robert Morris-Springfield 4, Judson 1
The tournament hosts opened with a 4-1 win over Judson College from Alabama. Stacey Brown was the winning pitcher throwing all seven innings and striking out 10. Ashton Swearingen was 2-for-4 for Robert Morris-Springfield with a double and drove in two runs.

Game 4: Judson 8, St. Joseph’s-Brooklyn 0
Bailey Bounds went the distance striking out seven and hit her second home run of the tournament driving in three runs going 3-for-3 as Judson defeated St. Joseph’s Brooklyn in five innings. Anna Billingham was 2-for-3 with a home run and a double and Katie Eubanks was 1-for-2 with a solo home run for the Eagles.
